I loved your post and really like 'Invisible Dogs'. You certainly achieved that feeling of a real neighbourhood and school. The simplicity and understatement of the story is touching and the illustrations are fun! Especially the hairdos! Well done!

The animation is wonderful! As is the book - my granddaughter and I love Invisible Dogs. She once walked in the park with a hundred invisible babies.

Wow that must have taken quite some organisation! But knowing your granddaughter I don’t doubt that she was a wonderful puppy handler!

Thanks for sharing this Ruby. It’s such a fascinating insight and we love your book in our house. The first time I read it to my kids, my daughter asked ‘can we read it again?’, ‘Now?’ I questioned. ‘Yes’ she said. We particularly like the end papers and have spent an inordinate amount of time discussing which invisible pet we would like to buy!

A great read Ruby! So interesting to find out how the book developed and the inspiration for the pink line!

It is such a beautiful book. Your colour palette is the best and the bright, bright pink the icing on the cake! I wish you every success. It’s sure to sell LOTS of copies! Thank you for sharing the whole story behind the book. Taking inspiration from your daughter and family is lovely and surely results in a much richer story. I wondered about your process. Do you scan your sketches and add the colour digitally?
