“They do invisible poos and they don’t even smell” 🥰 that’s a fantastic line, so practical with the fantasy!

My mum still tells the story of the day my brother lost his invisible dog. He was so upset they had to retrace their steps all round the high street to find it.

Your new book looks wonderful Ruby, thank you for sharing some of the inspiration!

Ah Nanette thank you! Yes the non-smelly poos made it into the book, I’m happy to report. I love the tale of your brother’s invisible dog. That’s amazing and what a fantastic mum! Ida in this book also loses her dog... some themes are universal!

what a great story! My son is only two and a half, but i’m already marvelling at what he decides is ‘important information’ to share with the neighbours when we bump into them. It’s imperative that they know he has a blue ball at home. And that his helmet is also blue. And that he has a toy mole. Maybe there is a story in there somewhere!

I love that so much. He must keep telling the neighbours all about his important things and you must keep a note of them all!

Thank you so much Tessa! Excitingly it has a NEON PINK which you can’t see from the photo. But it’s thrilling!

I love observing children, you're so right about finding inspiration this way. My next book comes from my daughter too and her experiences. My agent always encourages me to write from real events and/or the emotional responses to get something deeper and 'authentic'. It was a lightbulb moment.

James is completely right! It’s the BEST. My brother is moving close to us which is great because I love them but also they have two PERFECT aged kids. Got to keep the supply of littlies coming!

I loved the detail about the "Cwic story!" Priorities! So true about children being inspiring - that's why now mine are long since grown up, I visit a local nursery for an hour a week - solid gold for inspiration!

Reading about the process behind ‘Animal Crackers’ was really insightful and interesting. ‘Invisible Dogs’ looks just as brilliant! Really fun and quirky stories with amazing vibrant illustrations. Thank you for sharing Ruby!
